Food Review: Chozina

It's one of those days none of us at home were feeling up to the task of cooking lunch. Quite often so, it's my husband who gets to see links in Facebook that seem interesting enough to visit.

Chozina is located at 28A 15th Avenue, Brgy. San Roque, Cubao, Quezon City. They are open daily from 11AM to 9PM.

They were only a few streets away from our home and finding the place wasn't too difficult. We parked right beside the street.

You can see what's cooking just before you enter the place. Doesn't that look yummy?

There are a wide range of meals to choose from. They offer Whole Lechon Baboy and Boneless Lechon Belly which comes in regular and spicy flavors. There are unique ways they've cooked it too - Lechon Binagoongan, Lechon Dinuguan, Lechon Bicol Express to mention some. Don't know about you but Lechon Dinuguan doesn't sound so appetizing to me.

If that didn't get you feeling hungry, there are other viands available.

We opted for Lechon Belly (1/2 kilo) and Lechon Karekare. While waiting, we were asked to take a seat inside. They turned the aircon on and it didn't took long before we felt the cool air.

The place only allowed 6 tables. It can accommodate 30 people at one point.

Board games were used as displays - Chinese checkers, Monopoly were some of the popular ones. We didn't get to ask if guests can play. I didn't think my 4 year old, who was with us during the time, was old enough to understand any of the games and would probably make a mess of things.

They have a bar too and have some cool drinks lined up on the shelves. They don't offer beers on buckets though. The store owner did mention that they are contemplating having it on their menu but are still considering how much to charge. In the mean time, the drinks are priced per bottle. 1 bottle of San Miguel beer cost 55 pesos.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. When my 4 year old kid was starting to get bored, they turned the cable on so that he can watch cartoons while we wait.

After 5 to 10 minutes of waiting, we are ready to go home. But not without a mandatory selfie shot (lol)

Here's how our P630 pesos look like. Lechon Karekare had more serving than the Lechon Belly. We were given a small serving of achara and bagoong as well.

The lechon in both meals were tender and with just the right amount of crispness. The karekare sauce had a thick peanut based sauce, with pechay and talong. The lechon belly had a few herbs not sure what those are but it did make the meat have a strong aroma. I'm not sure though if they were edible so I kept them on the side.

Overall, Chozina satisfied our palates. It is affordable, accessible and with nice staffs to boot! We'll definitely go back again given the chance and try the other viands available.
